GT badge back on the Megane

The GT badge once again made its way a few years ago onto the rump of the Megane signifying a semi-performance and well balanced model with 120 kW that neatly bridged the gap that separated the natural aspirated two-litre and the RenaultSport hard-core versions.

When word came about a GT version for theĀ  new Megane, is was easy assuming they would be doing something similar but now that it has been launched any aspirations for a hot hatchback can be put aside.

The GT line in reality is a Sports Pack that adds to the 1.4 litre TCe petrol engine producing 96kW at 5500 rpm and at 2250 rpm 190Nm with a six speed manual gearbox. The five door hatch and three door coupe are both available with the lower sports suspension a standard fit to all three door models.

The GT bring sportier features to the Dynamique equipment with the most notable being a bolder bump design with a new grille and a gloss black RS-like centre section. Plus you can get a black headlight backgrounds, anthracite gray mirror housings and dark metal recesses for fog lights. A contrasting diffuser also enhances the rear end for GT buyers.

The interior has it fair share of motifs that are RS-inspired. Some of which are the sports seats in the front. An analogue speedo instead of the normal digital display and aluminum pedals, head rests and polished carbon door handles. The Carminat Tom Tom integrated navigation system adds a wonderful touch as well.
